Max De Pree Quotes and Questions

Quote

November 9, 2011

“Whether leaders articulate a personal philosophy or not, their behavior surely expresses a personal set of values and beliefs. The way we build and hold our relationships, the physical settings we produce, the products and services our organizations provide, the way in which we communicate—all of these things reveal who we are.”

Questions

Who are you?

What does your own behavior say about your personal set of values? Does it agree with who you say (or think) you are?

How are other people reading you? If someone who didn’t know you well were observing you today, how would they describe your values and beliefs? Would they be generally accurate?

Take some time to think over your actions, interactions and decisions today. What did the way you treated others today say about you?

What do your work spaces and the environments you create and inhabit say about what you value?

What are your products and services—and the way in which you provide them—saying about you?

Do you like the message you’re delivering through your behavior? Are there any adjustments you’d like to make?

Please feel free to leave your comments and thoughts below. In the meantime, I’m going to clean my desk. I don’t like what it’s saying about me!
