Prayers for Workers: Rejoicing After a Difficult Season

July 24, 2020 • Life for Leaders

Scripture – Psalm 30:11-12 (NRSV)

You have turned my mourning into dancing;
+++you have taken off my sackcloth
+++and clothed me with joy,
so that my soul may praise you and not be silent.
+++O LORD my God, I will give thanks to you forever.

Focus

When God delivers us from difficult times, our hearts rejoice. We can’t keep back our praise. We say to the Lord, “You have turned my mourning into dancing. You have taken off my clothes of sadness and decked me out with pure joy.” Hallelujah!

Prayer

Gracious God, how can I thank you enough for what you have done for me?! When I think about how hard things have been at work and how discouraged I felt, I am astounded by where things are today. You have brought me through such a difficult time. Sometimes it seemed that I would drown in my tears of despair. But you, O Lord, have turned my mourning into dancing. You have taken off my garments of sadness and clothed me with joy.

I praise you for your grace and mercy in my life. My soul praises you. My body praises you. My voice praises you. I will not be silent.

Today, O Lord my God, I thank you. And as I remember your goodness to me in the future, I will thank you again and again. I will give thanks to you forever. How good you are to me! Hallelujah! Amen.
