Jeff Van Duzer



Jeff is the author of Why Business Matters to God (IVP Academic, 2010) and a number of related articles in academic and popular journals. He is a frequent speaker on the topic of a “theology of business” as well as issues of business ethics. His presentations range from a single address to weekend-long workshops.

Education Description

After serving twelve years as Dean of the School of Business and Economics and Professor of Business Ethics and Business Law, Jeff Van Duzer was appointed as Provost of Seattle Pacific University in February 2013. As Provost, Jeff has responsibility for all aspects of the university “that touch the student experience.” This includes academic programs, student life, residence life, career services, athletics, university ministries, student academic services, study abroad programs, and enrollment management and marketing.

Prior to his appointment to SPU, Jeff was a partner with the international law firm of Davis Wright Tremaine where he practiced for more than 20 years. He concentrated his practice on commercial finance and natural resources. During his tenure with the firm, he served for nearly a decade on the firm’s Executive Committee and served as the Partner in Charge of the firm’s largest office.

Jeff received his undergraduate degree from the University of California in 1976, majoring in rhetoric, and received his J.D. degree from Yale Law School in 1979. Jeff is married to Margie Van Duzer and has two grown sons, Andrew and Nate.
