Biography
Dr. Markus Watson hosts the Spiritual Life and Leadership podcast in partnership with Fuller’s Church Leadership Institute. A Presbyterian pastor living in San Diego with his wife and three children, Markus currently serves as the Interim Pastor at Westmorland Community Presbyterian Church, a small, rural church located in Southern California’s agricultural Imperial Valley.
Markus earned his M.Div. from Fuller Seminary in 2001. In 2014, Markus earned his D.Min. with an emphasis in missional leadership, also from Fuller.
Markus has served several churches in Southern California and one in Northern Kentucky. From 2016-2018, Markus coached pastors while on staff with Flourish San Diego, a non-profit whose mission is to help churches help their people live out their own sacred callings through their seemingly “ordinary” vocations.
In 2018, Markus started the Spiritual Life and Leadership podcast. This podcast is for pastors and ministry leaders who long to lead well in this ever-changing world by helping them develop an effective outer life of ministry leadership rooted in a healthy inner life of union with Jesus.
Markus is the author of Beyond Thingification: Helping Your Church Engage in God’s Mission and has written articles for Resonance Journal and churchleaders.com.
I’m a Presbyterian pastor, living in San Diego with my beautiful wife, Robin, and my three kids, Micah, Macy, and Drew. I currently serve as an interim pastor at a small but mighty congregation in the rural town of Westmorland, about two hours east of San Diego. I also host the Spiritual Life and Leadership podcast and am the author of Beyond Thingification: Helping Your Church Engage in God’s Mission.
