Honoring the Legacy of Max De Pree on His 100th Birthday

October 28, 2024 would have been Max De Pree’s 100th birthday.

As the CEO of Herman Miller, and motivated by his Christian faith, he led in a way that honored the dignity of all those entrusted to his care. What he worked out in leadership he shared via best-selling leadership books, and dozens of trusted mentoring relationships, including one with former De Pree Center Executive Director Walt Wright in which the two worked through issues related to what they called “the third third of life.”

For the past 25 years, our Center has sought to honor Max’s legacy by continuing in the work of equipping Christian leaders across industries and seasons of life to be deeply formed as disciples of Jesus so that they might wisely seek the very best for the people and systems entrusted to their care.

Over the past several years, this work has come into deeper focus through a variety of programmatic offerings that equip people to grow spiritually, invest in others, and catalyze Kingdom change in their context.

Here’s the truth: our work is funded by you—generous people who believe that a society of deeply formed Christian leaders might bring greater hope and healing in our workplaces, our homes, and our communities.

Today, I invite you to consider making a gift in honor of Max De Pree’s 100th birthday!

If you feel led to give, know that:

  • $50 Delivers content on rest to busy leaders
  • $25 Gets a Life for Leaders Devotion into the hands of a leader who needs it
  • $500 Helps a leader to discern purpose in the context of their work or retirement
  • $1000 Trains mentors to walk alongside a rising generation
  • $5,000 Sponsors a month of leadership devotions
  • $10,000 Helps us build an assessment that helps leaders identify areas they’re not flourishing

Sometimes, I hear that people really want to support the work behind the work.  If this is you, know that our team deeply appreciates gifts designated toward professional development, team-building resources, and team in-person time.

If you are unable to give, please know your continual support of the De Pree Center matters greatly. We quite literally could not do this work without any of you.

Thank you for prayerfully considering a gift in honor of Max De Pree’s 100th birthday!
