We Can’t Do It Alone

We can’t do it alone. We can’t discover our callings and attempt to live them faithfully without the help of others.

At the Max De Pree Center for Leadership, we have studied what it looks like to be a flourishing leader in the marketplace.

  • In late 2021 and early 2022, we conducted interviews with 19 exemplary mentors aged 50+. In May 2022, we conducted a survey on mentoring and received responses from 244 Christians aged 18-49.
  • We have learned that these types of leaders can’t do it alone. They need a network of supportive relationships to encourage them, tell them the truth, and hold them accountable as they seek to live out their faith in their work.
  • One such supportive relationship is a mentoring relationship.

Perhaps mentoring is new to you. This guidebook is designed to prepare you to be in a mentoring relationship. The lessons on the pages that follow will help you understand what mentoring is, identify the qualities of a good mentor, and reflect on what it looks like to be a good mentee.
