Workday Prayers: Thanks for God’s Faithfulness
Scripture Reading – Psalm 100:5 (NRSV)
For the LORD is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.
Focus
All of us go through hard times at work. Sometimes we wonder if God is even there to help us. But when we look back on our work life, remembering both the highs and the lows, and all the times in between, we can see God’s goodness. The Lord’s steadfast love and faithfulness is always there for us.
Prayer
Gracious God, as I look back upon my work life, I remember times when your goodness was so apparent. I think of times of guidance, inspiration, reassurance, and fruitfulness. It was easy in those times to see how you were blessing me.
Yet I also remember times when your goodness was veiled from my eyes. It seemed like you had turned your back on me or weren’t even there at all. Those were hard times, Lord, and I’m not sure I understand today all that you were doing or not doing. But, as I look back, I can see how you were at work even in those painful times. I recognize how you used others to comfort me. I remember lessons I learned. Today, in retrospect, I acknowledge your faithfulness. Your steadfast love was with me even when I couldn’t perceive it.
And so I thank you for being so good to me. I thank you for being faithful even in times when I have not been faithful to you. I thank you for your steadfast love that never lets me go. I give you thanks and praise this day with a humble and grateful heart.
Great is thy faithfulness!
Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
all I have needed thy hand has provided.
Great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
Amen.

No matter what you are experiencing today at work, God is good and faithful. God’s love will never let you go.
