Workday Prayers: To a God who is Right, Just, Loving, and Faithful
Scripture Reading: Psalm 89:14 (NRSV)
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne;
steadfast love and faithfulness go before you.
Focus
God is right and just, full of love and faithfulness. As we praise God for his amazing goodness, we seek to be like God in all of life, including our workplace.
Prayer
Gracious God, righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne. Steadfast love and faithfulness go before you.
Thank you, Lord, for being a God committed to what is right. There is no hint of evil in you, no trace of injustice. You are completely righteous and just. For this, I praise you.
Thank you for your steadfast love and faithfulness. Your love is utterly trustworthy. It’s always there for us. Nothing in all creation can separate me from your love in Christ. How wonderful!
In my work, Lord, may I imitate you. Help me to live rightly in all of my relationships at work. May I treat each of my colleagues as people created in your image.
Help me to seek your justice in my workplace. If I’m a supervisor, may I be just with all of those who report to me. If I have the opportunity to shape the culture of my organization, may a vision of your justice guide me.
Even as you have loved me, may I love others at work. Give me your compassion for them. May I see them as people whom you love, as my neighbors as well as my colleagues.
And may I be faithful. Help me to work is such a way that I earn the trust of others. May I live and work with integrity, reflecting you in all I do. Amen.
