Prayers for Workers: The Best Consultant of All

October 25, 2019 • Life for Leaders

I will praise the LORD, who counsels me;
+++even at night my heart instructs me.
I keep my eyes always on the LORD.
+++With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

Psalm 16:7-8 (NIV)

Prayer:

Lord, these days it seems as if there are more consultants than ever before. There are consultants for branding and HR, consultants for marketing and hiring, consultants for operations and finance, consultants for building and master planning, and so many more.

Teen football player kneeling on the sidelines to praySurely some consultants offer valuable wisdom, for which I thank you. But I am reminded today that you are the ultimate consultant, the one who gives me the best counsel. Your advice isn’t only for my personal life. Rather, you guide me in everything I do if I pay attention to you. You help me to work in a way that is just, ethical, and fruitful. You guide my decisions, speaking to my heart both day and night if I listen to you.

Even as I learn from consultants and other so-called experts, may I attend most of all to you, to your Word found in Scripture, to your truth conveyed through the Spirit, to your wisdom embodied in the community of your people. May I keep my eyes always on you, Lord.

If I stay close to you, you will guide me in the best ways to go. With you at my right hand, I will not be shaken. I will remain secure and steadfast, positioned for a life of fruitfulness. Amen.

Ponder Throughout the Day:

God is available to you, the best consultant you’ll ever have.
