Biography

Matthew Dickerson’s books include works of spiritual theology and Christian apologetics as well as historical fiction, fantasy literature, explorations of the writings of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, and books about trout fishing, fly fishing, rivers, and ecology. His recent book,  Aslan’s Breath (2024) explores C.S.Lewis’s portrayal of the Holy Spirit in the Narnia stories. Other recent works include: Disciple Making in a Culture of Power, Comfort, and Fear, and The Voices of Rivers: Reflections on Places Wild and Almost Wild.

His other books about J. R. R. Tolkien and C.S.Lewis include A Hobbit JourneyEnts, Elves, and Eriador, and Narnia and the Fields of Arbol

He has been artist in residence at Glacier National Park, Acadia National Park, and for Alaska State Parks. He lives in Vermont with his wife of more than 35 years not far from three married sons and three grandchildren, is an active member of Memorial Baptist Church, and is a member of a community of writers of Christian faith known as the Chrysostom Society.
