Mentoring Research Project
About the Study
Phase 1
In late 2021, the De Pree Center began its investigation into mentoring with an exemplar study. We interviewed 19 individuals aged 50 and over who were nominated for being exemplary mentors. We wanted to understand their experiences with mentoring.
Phase 2
In May 2022, we conducted a survey among Christians aged 18-49 to learn about their mentoring experiences. 244 individuals met the survey criteria and completed the survey.
Results
Based on the what we learned from the project, we have been prototyping and testing several resources like a class, workshop, and guide—all focused on building mentoring skills. Lead researcher Meryl Herr has also written the several articles shown below that have drawn upon the findings.
